There are lots of objects, ideas, places, and people that you call “weird”. You can add some scholarships to that “weird” list as well.
There some unique scholarships granted to students with very interesting titles. These rare and funny scholarships are no joke, you can receive free money to help pay for college—which can be kind of a big deal if you’re planning to attend college soon.
You’re asked to imagine your high school/college has been overrun by zombies, then envision your math professor, cafeteria ladies, and best friend as part of the walking dead. You have to be creative and flesh out (pun intended) a plan to avoid the zombies, including where you would hide and the top 5 things you would need to stay alive. Applicants must be U.S. residents 13 years of age or older.
Requirement – An essay on the following topic: “Imagine that your high school/college has been overrun with Zombies”.
This scholarship is for one graduate-level student conducting research on potatoes. The research must be for the benefit of the potato industry. The winner is selected based on a number of criteria, including academic achievement, leadership abilities, potato-related areas of graduate study, benefit to the U.S. potato industry/commercial value, extracurricular activities, and grades.
Stuck at Prom is a contest that challenges high schoolers to make amazing Duck Tape prom outfits. You’re required to create a unique prom outfit using Duck Tape. So far students have used a total of 92,796 Duck Tape rolls for the past 15 years of Stuck at Prom Duck Tape scholarship.
Requirement – Create a prom outfit out of duct tape.
The Tall Clubs International Foundation (TCI) is a non-profit organization created to benefit the interest of tall people by funding scholarships for tall students. Applicants must be under 21 years of age, attending their first year of college, and who meet the height requirements of 6’2′′ for men and 5’10′′ for women.
